Carrier Specific Information as of 3/23/2020

The information below is the most up-to-date information we have that is carrier specific regarding COVID-19. Please review our blog, The Mihlfeld Mile, for additional information by mode and general shipping updates in response to COVID-19.

**ALL CARRIERS ARE ASKING SHIPPERS TO MAKE SURE THE CONSIGNEE WILL BE OPEN AND ABLE TO ACCEPT DELIVERIES BEFORE SCHEDULING PICKUP. MANY DELIVERIES ARE BEING WAREHOUSED OR RETURNED (at the cost of the shipper) BECAUSE THE RECIPIENT IS CLOSED, OPERATING UNDER LIMITIED HOURS, OR NOT ACCEPTING DELIVERIES.**

A Duie Pyle

  • Continues to run a full operation and service the Northeast region.

Averitt

  • Will continue to operate at full capacity except when limited government restrictions – currently no restrictions in place limiting Averitt.

Beaver Express

  • A Midwest carrier operating out of Oklahoma has shut down effective today (3/23/2020).

Central Freight Lines

  • Are operating at Full Capacity across all terminals.

DHL

  • We will temporarily enable the Signature Release option for all business-to-consumer (B2C) shipments on our On Demand Delivery platform.
    • In cases where the receiver does not choose Signature Release prior to delivery, but still does not want to sign on the scanner, our couriers will temporarily offer a non-contact alternative.
  • We will change other delivery options available as required by country.
  • DHL has suspended their guaranteed service refund program.

Estes Express Lines

  • Make sure your consignee understands we will no longer do inside delivery as our drivers are practicing social distancing. We will drop off at a curb, porch, dock, we will not take freight inside of a building.
  • NO white glove service during this time.
  • Consignees no longer required to sign for delivery – the driver will take 3 photos: showing the delivery was made to the correct place and on opposite corners to show no damage. Photos will be emailed to the Terminal Manager with Pro Number.

 

FedEx

  • FedEx has suspended their guaranteed service refund program for all FedEx Express, FedEx Ground,
    FedEx Freight, & FedEx Office Services
  • Are operating at Full Capacity across all terminals. All Embargoed Areas have returned to full operations.
  • PREVIOUSLY: FedEx was following a local government recommendation to embargo San Francisco, Oakland, San Jose, & Petalum Embargo Dates: 3/18-3/20/2020


Old Dominion Freight Lines

  • Is operating at 100% across all terminals.
  • Please be advised that for any pick-ups called in to ODFL all customers will be asked to provide us with the information below:
    • ODFL will ask the name of the consignee for every pickup and they will check to ensure they are not marked “Closed” in the ODFL System.
  • For any on-line pick up request, EDI or Drop Trailer the consignee will be reviewed per the directive below:
    • ODFL will verify that the consignee is open and if showing closed, follow up with the booking party to advise that ODFL will not pick up the shipment.
  • For Drop Trailers – ODFL needs to return the next business day.

Saia

  • Will continue to operate under State of Emergency and Shelter in Place orders.
  • Drivers will wear disposable gloves during pickup and deliveries and will maintain 6 feet of separation from others.
  • We’re implementing delivery receipt policy changes such as “No Signature Required” to limit customer contact:
    • Saia drivers will sign for the customer receiving the freight by inputting their first and last name.
  • If requested, we can stage freight on our trailers to allow for safe and quick customer unloading.
  • Drivers will no longer be required to enter terminals before their scheduled routes to minimize exposure other team members.
  • With the exception of cleaning and vending companies, no outside entity will be allowed into Saia terminals.

UPS

  • UPS has suspended their guaranteed service refund program.
  • Operating at full capacity across all terminals.

XPO Logistics

  • They have a business hours survey they are asking companies to fill out to help them understand operating hours for pickups and deliveries while many businesses are not operating at regular business hours – XPO Business Hours Survey
  • Will continue to operate under State of Emergency and Shelter in Place orders.
